“In reality, if you aren’t one of the three or four main parties, you really aren’t going to achieve a whole lot. With that said, Eckstrom says he would also work to give independent MP’s a stronger voice in the House of Commons. You’re shoved into a corner and you don’t get to do much committee stuff.” Being an independent in the House of Commons, you’re kind of useless. “But that’s the thing, there’s not much I could really do. “If I somehow won, I would sacrifice myself and focus really on a lot of western issues and kind of be an independent voice to pop up every once in a while,” he explained. However, if he’s elected to represent Grande Prairie-Mackenzie in the House of Commons, he says he would honestly work to help make sure western Canadian issues are being heard.
